Evan Longoria

I tell ya, this dude rules. He makes outstanding plays look routine. This kid is a ballplayer, and if he does not get rookie of the year, something is seriously wrong.

And I'll tell ya this, Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt is my all-time favorite ballplayer, and if Longoria keeps this up, he will surpass Schmidt as the greatest 3rd baseman of all-time. With all due respect to Brooks Robinson.

Edit: not 2 minutes after I posted this Longoria hit a 2-run triple.

My brother picks the winners in NASCAR

Even though my brother is not a NASCAR fan, he can barely tolerate it, every week before the race he gives me his picks. Yesterday he gave me Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards as his picks. And you know how they finished. I don't know how he does it, but he is right at least 60% of the time. I'm usually wrong, because my pick is always Little E.

I'm still trying to get him to give me some winning lottery numbers.

St. Pete Times, Tampabay.com, the "music critic", and AC/DC...what a joke!!

Hell, it aint my fault if Sean Daly dropped the ball on the new AC/DC album

Just because I called their so-called "music critic" out on his lack of reporting the news of the new AC/DC album, all of a sudden my posts are getting flagged as spam. It does not matter that I have posted there more than a few times. Hell, I ain't spending another 35 cents on that rag now, if this is how they treat posters. And I was even pretty friggin' nice about it. The music section has always sucked anyway, even before the current "critic".

Ya know, one of the biggest, and IMHO the best band of all time, is coming out with their first new album in 8 years, and this dude drops the ball.

Yep, I'm Powerage.

Tampa Bay Rays, get rid of B.J. Upton

I love the Rays, I have been going to the games since the first season.

That said, I have never liked upton...the kid has all the tools in the world, but does not hustle. He half-asses everything. He just got thrown out on a play at first, where he should have been safe by a mile if he would have ran. The Rays better get rid of his lazy ass.

Damn, I'm glad my Dad ain't alive to see how some of these ballplayers approach the game. Hell, I would give my left nut and half of my right to be a major leaguer.

Now Longo? That dude rules...works hard, loves the game. CC? same thing. Jonny Gomes? That dude busts his ass. Imagine Gomes with the skills of Upton...people would be comparing him with Ruth...almost. But you get my point.

I love the Rays, but they need to get rid of upton.

Carry Me Home

I love damn near every AC/DC song, but this would rank in my top 20. Other than diehard fans, no one has really heard this song. And Bon was probably drunk when he sang this song. Ride On Bon!

The Rays head for the road

The Rays took 2 of 3 from Oakland, though Troy Percival made things a tad scary in the 9th. Now it is off to Kansas City for a 4 games series. It would great if they could sweep them, but I'll settle for 3 of 4.

Tim's Sloppy Sweat Bread

Here is something I came up with, very simple. And very sweet.

No recipe, it is just what I did.

Heat up a skillet, toss some butter in there, right in the center. Or more butter if you plan on making a few slices.

Heat it for 2 minutes or so, or until the butter is melted

Toss your favorite slice(s) of bread right on the center of the butter.
I used honey-wheat.

Turn it after 2 minutes or so, or until the bread is a nice golden brown

Heat that side for a minute or so, or until it turns a nice golden brown

Put on a plate, top with pure maple syrup or honey, right in the center, and spread with a spoon.

Eat and enjoy!!

Top Quality free software

Hey y'all,

I just thought I would post about the free software I use. I have tried so much software it is not even funny. This is what has stayed on my computer through the years, which has XP, though a lot also work great on Vista. My setup, which I mostly put together, and runs very good, though I do need a dual core system. I don't play games on it, so I just use a cheap video card.

Athlon 2400+ CPU
1 gig memory
Fx 5200 video card
1 40 gig WD HDD
1 60 gig WD HDD
Dual layer DVD burner
CD burner

And I'm behind a router. I don't get any virus' or spyware.

You can get these at Majorgeeks.com and all are free.

Security:

Anti-virus: Avira's AntiVir. Hands down this is my favorite. I have used them all. They have a free and paid version, though the free is fine. Easy to use and setup, very light on resources, and it catches just about everything. I set mine to scan at 3 am everyday. They update the definitions all of the time.

Spybot Search and Destroy: I have read stuff on the internet where people say it is old and useless. BS, I say. The guard alone is great if you insist on running Internet Explorer 7.

SpywareBlaster: Excellent job at keeping the bad guys out, works for Firefox and IE.

Scotty the Watchdog: This is really good for controlling what starts when Windows boots. The free version is great, and there is a paid version also.

Firewall: I also use a software firewall, and I use Sygate 5.6 personal firewall. Simple to use and works flawlessly. I don't even know it is running.

Browsers:
Firefox, Seamonkey, Avant

Audio and video playback:
All you need is K-Lite mega codec pack and VLC Player.

Images: All you need here is The Gimp and Paint.net. No need to buy Photoshop.

Other stuff:

7 Zip - for zip files, works super
Core FTP Lite - FTP Client, I like it better than Filezilla
Foxit Reader- PDF Reader
Adobe 9 - another PDF reader
Seamonkey - also a great HTML editor, also great for e-mail
CCleaner - keep your system clean
Regcompact.net - compacts different registry hives
Ashampoo Burning Studio - My favorite, and yes, I have used them all. Free if you know where to look.
Vigos site map maker - fast and easy to use, makes a perfect xml sitemap.

I have a bunch of other things, which are not things that everyday people use, like a lot of internet marketing software.

Heading into the break

It is not good heading into the break with a 7 game losing streak, like the Rays. I hope they don't start fading.

Nothing going on here, just updating blogs and stuff.

Just a reminder...

...that AC/DC is the greatest rock band ever. I can't wait for the new album.

Oh yea, I had to pull a couple of posts, but they will go back up, I don't know when.

Here are the lads, 1981 Tokyo. I have the whole concert on DVD, the whole show is incredible, and my favorite bootleg.

Rays lose 7-4

Well, the nice little 7 game winning streak has ended. Very nice though, sweeping the red sux and taking 3 outta 4 from the Royals. Good to see Pena hit that shot in the 9th.

Tampa Bay Rays

They just beat the Royals 9-2, with the whole lineup contributing again. They go for the 4 game sweep tomorrow at 12:40. Man this is great, finally having a winning baseball team. I have been to plenty of games where there have been under 10,000 fans, and it has been so quiet you could almost here a pin drop.

Let's go Rays!!

Tampa Bay Rays win again!!

They just beat KC 11-2 in the first game of the series. That is what good teams do, beat up on the not-so-good teams.

How about them Rays!

Great 3 game sweep of the red sux. All 3 games were great. And Longoria is going to be rookie of the year. Right now, this reminds me of the 1991 Braves. I had been a Braves fan since the late '70s, because that was the closest team near me, plus the fact they were always on tv. I got laughed at A LOT for being a Braves fan. Then they had that magical season and lost one of the greatest World Series ever played.

The Rays are my first team now, though I'm still a Braves fan. Also, there is nothing wrong with The Trop. I have been to many games when there was a major thunderstorm going on. It is also so humid here at game time(7:10pm) it ain't even funny. The dome is fine, and it gets loud in there. I like sitting out there in left center, or anywhere on the first base side. Or right...heck I just like going to the games. But seeing how I'm moving across the state, I'll see far less games live.

And if you go, you MUST check out the Ted Williams museum.

Lets keep it going Rays!!

10 reasons to hate the Red Sox

I despise the red sux. I have been a Tampa Bay Rays fan since the very beginning. That means I also don't like every other AL team. I really hate the Yankees, but I despise the red sux.

This is from my hometown paper.

By Tom Jones, Times Staff Writer
In print: Tuesday, July 1, 2008

The fans

Red Sox Nation? They weren't even known as "Red Sox Nation" until they started winning championships, which in case New Englanders forget (and it seems they have) was only a few years ago. Before 2004, Red Sox fans were like Cubs fans: lovable losers. You felt sorry for them when Bucky Dent, Bill Buckner and Aaron Boone happened. Then they won a World Series and then another and now they, including all the bandwagon jumpers, parade around like they invented the game. They were more fun — and a whole lot classier — when they were cursed.

Bill Buckner

Yeah, Red Sox fans are all peachy with Bill Buckner, the supposed goat of the 1986 World Series, these days. But from 1986 until the Red Sox won in 2004? They treated Buckner like dirt, running him out of town and making him live in shame all because the Red Sox didn't have the jam to hold on to a 3-0 lead in Game 7 two nights after Buckner had the audacity to let a grounder skip between his legs.

Manny being Manny

If any other player pulled some of the stunts Manny Ramirez has, he would be considered a troublemaker. But everyone just smiles, shrugs and says, "That's Manny being Manny," and that makes it all okay? Try that at work tomorrow. Goof off and when the boss says something, just say, "Hey, that's Joe being Joe," and see what happens. Okay, honestly? I used to love Manny, and you can't deny he is one of the best hitters in the history of the game. But he lost my support when he reportedly shoved the team's traveling secretary over the weekend for not getting him enough tickets. That's not Manny being Manny. That's Manny being a jerk.

It's a Boston thing

The Patriots, despite their Super Bowl loss to the Giants, still have had football's best team over the past decade and probably will win the whole thing next season. The Celtics pull a rabbit out of their hats (actually two — Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen) and go from one of the worst teams in the NBA to a record 17th NBA title. The Red Sox have won two World Series in four years and are the favorites again this year. That's just not fair. No city should have that much fun.

They're jerks

Think of some of the legendary names in Red Sox history: Ted Williams, Carlton Fisk, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice. Know what two things they have in common? They were all great players. And they were all crotchety, cranky and ornery cusses.

Curt Schilling

I know he's not around, and, sincerely, we hate to see anyone's career end on an injury. But …

Shut up. Please. Please shut up. You talk too much. Remember a few years ago when he popped off on Lou Piniella, claiming Piniella no longer knows how the game is played? (This year's NL Central standings suggest otherwise.) That's just one of like a million things Schilling, right, has said over the years — to newspaper reporters, on the radio, on TV … in his own blog! I swear, someday a YouTube clip is going to show him rubbing ketchup on that, ahem, bloody sock. Okay, we get it, you had a cut on your foot. They're rich but act poor

For years, Red Sox fans bellyached about their rivals, the Yankees, and how much money the Yankees would spend on players. Well, you know what? You guys are the Yankees, too. You win championships because you spend money. So don't act like you're the organization with all the sharp baseball minds who built through the draft and shrewd waiver-wire pickups with a tiny payroll. That's the Rays, not you guys.

Oh yeah, sure, Red Sox GM Theo Epstein, right, is a genius. It takes real brilliance to recognize that Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell are, uh, pretty good and we should write them a check from a limitless bank account. No, genius is trading away a player like Delmon Young for Matt Garza and Jason Bartlett.

Jason Varitek's C

Jason Varitek is the Red Sox captain, and he wears a "C" on his uniform. This isn't hockey. Why is he the only guy in baseball wearing a C? In fact, what does a baseball captain even do? Wearing a "C" is just arrogant. "Hey, look at us, we have a captain." "Hey, lookie at me. I'm the leader." The Yankees have a captain, too, but you don't see Derek Jeter feeling the need to announce to the world that he has a job that has no duties. If you want to lead, then lead. But you don't have to tell everyone that you lead.

Coco Crisp and Jonathan Papelbon

Don't get us started on Coco. He starts all the trouble by spiking Akinori Iwamura then has the nerve to storm the mound when James Shields hits him in the leg? Whatever. Everything calms down, everything is evened up then Papelbon, right, runs his mouth about the whole thing not being over. Unless you plan on grabbing a bat and standing in a batter's box, you probably shouldn't say anything. And while we're at it, does Kevin Youkilis have to wet his pants and throw helmets every time he gets called out on strikes or pops up with a runner on third and one out?

They're good

Bottom line is they have more rings than any team over the past four years. And two more than the Rays. They have Manny and Big Papi banging homers. They have Josh Beckett and Dice-K blowing away hitters. They have Kevin Youkilis and Mike Lowell hitting gappers and Jacoby Ellsbury stealing bases. And Jonathan Papelbon throwing peas to lock down games. Their manager might be the best in baseball, and, yes, even their kid GM seems to know what he's doing. Plus, well, they do play in the coolest stadium in sports.

Don't you just hate that?
